In Genesis 20:11, Abraham says, “Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will kill me on account of my wife.”
Abraham looked around and saw a place where there was no fear of God. There was wickedness around him, people living according to what pleased them, with no regard for God. Out of that fear, Abraham made a mistake; he lied that Sarah was his sister, which caused Abimelek to take her away. (Gen 20:2)
Yet, even in a place where there was no fear of God, and even when Abraham messed up, one thing did not change: he was still an investment of God, and God watches over His investment. God Himself encountered Abimelek and ensured Sarah was returned unharmed and with gifts!
That should give you courage and confidence.
You may be in a workplace, city, locality, or situation where there is no fear of God. You may even make mistakes along the way. But none of that changes the fact that you are an investment of God.
God is tracking His investment. His love is tracking you. His beautiful, good thoughts are tracking you.
God is a Good Investor!
Look through the Old Testament. In every generation, God invested in somebody. Abraham. Moses. David. And wherever His investment was, God showed up. He guarded and preserved His investment until all of it eventually produced a return: Jesus.
And look at the goodness of this Investor. When God received the greatest return, Jesus, He did not withhold Him. He reinvested Him.
Why? Because He had you and me in His mind.
God took that one Seed and sowed Him so that He could receive sons and daughters in His likeness.
Now, because we believe in Jesus, we have become a different kind of investment. We are not simply like Abraham, Moses, or David. Jesus Himself is now a part of us.
I am praying that your eyes will open to see the value you have in the eyes of God. You are God’s investment. Jesus is in you. You have held the hand of Jesus. And the direction before you is up, and never down.
