How do we know if we really have faith?

Many times we are quick to say “Yes, I have faith”. But how do we know if we really believe? How do we really know if God’s truth has been established in our lives?

Here are 3 steps that will help you know if you really have faith:

tests of faith
  1. Do you believe in your heart?

If someone were to ask you “Do you believe that God can heal you?”, you would probably be quick to say yes. But do you really believe it in your heart? When we say “the Lord is my Provider, I will not lack”, do we really believe it in our heart? That is step one – we don’t just say it because religion taught us that, but because we really believe with our heart what we say.

  1. Do you speak what your heart believes?

Step two is what you believe must come into action. And it first comes into action by what you say – not just what you say in church, but what you say outside of church. Because in the church there is an atmosphere of faith. But, if you are asked to open your mouth and praise Him when there is no music or worship team to cheer you, how do you praise Him? We need to speak what we believe.

  1. Are you confessing before men what you believe?

You will know your faith is complete when you begin to confess before men what you believe. Many believers say they have faith, but their mouth remains shut before unbelievers. Some of your colleagues and neighbors don’t even know that you are a Christian. Maybe because you are too scared to confess God before men. Or maybe you are not fully convinced yet of what you believe.

Jesus says in Matthew 10:32, “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.”

The Kingdom of God is at hand. Can we analyze our lives by these three parameters and tell if what we really had was faith? Remember, without faith it is impossible to please God.
