Hope your 2025 is off to a great start! Many of us are carrying the promises of God over our lives and working towards seeing them fulfilled in this year.
When Israel was at the verge of their promised land, God sent a Word to them encouraging them to go in and take the land. Israel was right at the gates of their promised land. But that generation, except Caleb, did not see the promised land because they chose to believe the report of man and not the promises of God. (Read Deuteronomy 1)
This year as you are believing to see the promises of God fulfilled over your life, there are 2 questions that you need to ask yourself often to ensure you don’t miss out on the promises of God this year.

1. What Are You Speaking?
“They also took some of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us; and they brought back word to us, saying, ‘It is a good land which the LORD our God is giving us.’ “Nevertheless you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of the LORD your God; and you complained in your tents, and said, ‘Because the LORD hates us, He has brought us out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.” (Deuteronomy 1:25-27 NKJV)
What kind of words come out of you when you come across a terrifying situation? Do you start grumbling and complaining or do you start rejoicing in the promise and fighting the good fight?
This year be willing to change your confession and be grateful for what God has given and promised you, regardless of what giant you see. Be intentional about declaring the promises of God no matter what your situations are speaking.
Remember, it is better to magnify God with your words than to magnify your problems. Because, what you magnify this year will be your anchor for the entire year.
For example, if God has promised you a house this year, don’t magnify how you don’t have the money or resources for it. Instead, declare the promises of God, and how He has provided for you in the past.
You having the promise depends ultimately on what you do now; what words you are declaring now!
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jer 29:11 NKJV)
2. What Are You Hearing?
“Where can we go up? Our brethren have discouraged our hearts, saying, “The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.” (Deuteronomy 1:28 NKJV)
The Lord had already told the people of Israel that the land is good and it is given to them. But the words of their brothers painted a wrong picture in the people’s heart. And the people were so filled with fear and refused to go because of the words of a few men.
They forgot about the picture God showed them a few verses before of how good the land is, and how they are to enter boldly and not be afraid. They chose the words of men over the promises of God.
“Yet in spite of this word you did not believe the Lord your God,” (Deuteronomy 1:32 ESV)
Words that you hear can either push you towards your destiny or separate you from your blessing.
In 2025, be careful of what words you allow in your ears. If you give ears to the fears and unbelief of others, their fear will become your fear and discourage you from entering into God’s promises over your life.
Let the promises of God be louder than any words of man in your life. As Author Kim D’Souza said, “Just as faith comes by hearing; fear also comes by hearing”. May we choose to hear His Word and believe Him above every wrong words of man.
3.How Do I Guard What I Hear and Speak?
One practical way you can walk in faith this year is to be found in the right company. Because even though the ten spies came back with a negative report there was a different group of Joshua and Caleb who came back with a good report.
Connect yourself to a spirit filled group who are walking by faith in the Word of God. If you don’t have one, stay connected to us at Soar Girls. We are a group of girls who have decided to take God at His Word despite what the world says. Come join us, and let’s soar in Christ this year!
XoXo,
