Their names are murmuring and grumbling.
They will make you unhappy & never help you grow!
They will neither build you nor others.
They will always make you the victim.
They will destroy your life and let you down.
The more you hangout with them, the more likely they will lead you into depression.
In 2026, if you want to soar in Christ, these two have to go.
A Real-Life Picture
I had a colleague, she would always murmur and grumble about work. She would do it so often and whenever her boss asked her why she was late, she would keep silent for a few seconds and after the boss steps away she would grumble.
Over time, her attitude frustrated everyone around her. Nothing changed, not because solutions weren’t possible, but because murmuring never fixes anything. It only poisons the atmosphere.
That’s when I realized this is exactly what God despised when Israelites grumbled in the wilderness.
God Hears Your Grumblings
The Israelites saw with their eyes where God put plagues on Egypt, opened up the red sea for them and fought for them and delivered them from years of slavery and oppression.
The Word of God says , “Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in His servant Moses” (Exodus 14:31).
Yet, only days later, they began to complain. Instead of asking God, they grumbled against Moses and Aaron.
What’s amazing is this: although they complained about the men of God, God said,
“He has heard your grumbling against the Lord.” (Exodus 16:7–8)
Another verse confirms it:
“How long shall this wicked congregation grumble against me? I have heard the grumblings of the people of Israel.” (Numbers 14:27, ESV)
Murmuring may feel harmless, but God hears it clearly.
2026: A Year to Change
If murmuring and grumbling have quietly become part of your life, let 2026 be the year you release them.
God doesn’t ask us to pretend life is perfect. He invites us to bring our concerns to Him instead of rehearsing complaints that keep us stuck.
The Word of God says in Philippians 2:14-16 “Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life…”
Reflect on this: Are there things in my life I grumble or complain about instead of praying to God about it?
