The One Characteristic That God Hates in His Children

The One Characteristic That God Hates in His Children

One morning, I sat down to spend time in God’s presence. I took a glass of warm water with me and took a sip of it. It was not hot but warm, almost cold. I could barely gulp it down my throat, and I thought to myself- water at this temperature doesn’t taste good.

And I sensed the Lord say, “That’s how I hate lukewarmness”.

“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”
(Revelation 3:16)

walk daily

What does it mean to be a Lukewarm Christian?

A believer who does things out of religion is a lukewarm believer. From the above verses, it is clear that God hates this characteristic in His children.

When you read the Word to put a tick on your to-do list..

When you attend church on Sundays just so you don’t go to hell..

When praising and worshipping God becomes a mere activity or entertainment..

When prayer becomes selfish and self-centered..

When serving in the church becomes all about looking like a good believer in the eyes of man..

When there is no more joy in giving, but it is done simply out of fear of judgment or out of duty..

Then, religion is born, and lukewarmness takes birth.

The Lord hates lukewarmness. No matter how good a believer we portray ourselves on the outside, the Lord tests our hearts and minds (Psalm 7:9).

How to Overcome Lukewarmness

Most believers, at some point, will encounter lukewarmness in their spiritual journey. Many times I have found myself in a lukewarm state. What is important is that we don’t settle with it, but get up and rekindle our fire for God. Many start on fire for God, but few keep it burning. To keep our fire for God burning requires us to be intentional in our walk with God daily.

We must understand that Christian life is not about how right we do things on the outside. Instead, it is about how right our heart is with God.

“Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?”(Galatians 3:3)

The way not to allow lukewarmness to overcome us is by renewing our relationship with Jesus every day. It is all about our relationship with Jesus; everything gets birthed out of that relationship with the Lover of our souls.

When we first came to Christ, isn’t that how it was? We praised Him and worshipped Him out of our love for Him, and we didn’t care if we seemed foolish to the world. We spent time in His presence out of love. We gave out of joy. God desires for us to remain in that first love that we had for Him. (Revelation 2:4-5)

Many believers fail because they don’t get to know God beyond their point of salvation. They settle with the testimony of how they got saved. But what they don’t realise is that being saved is just the beginning.

There is so much more to God, and how can we know Him more unless we build our relationship with Him more, and that too every day? There is so much more to Him than the encounters you have had with Him till today. He is more beautiful and more interesting than anything or anyone you will ever come across.

Dear sister, if you have become lukewarm in your spiritual journey, I encourage you to rekindle your relationship with Jesus through Word and prayer, and being connected to a spirit-led church that will help you grow spiritually. Let us be like the five wise virgins keeping our lamps trimmed and burning bright for Jesus. He is coming soon.

XOXO

But I Have Tested Him And He Is on My Team 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

But I Have Tested Him And He Is on My Team 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

When situations come to test you, when problems come your way, do you end up doubting the love of God? Do you begin to question if He is actually with you? Do you feel as though God is angry with you and punishing you for some sin you committed?

Today, let’s put an end to this argument.

I want you to imagine this.

You have done something awful and brutal, like committing a murder, and it is confirmed publicly that you are guilty; even you know in your heart that you have done it. Now you deserve the punishment, and the situation demands that justice be done.

He loves me

In that situation, your Father stands up and says, “Leave her out of this; take me instead, and I will take her place.”

And you stand there with the entire city being called, and right before your eyes, your Father is beaten mercilessly to the point that He is disfigured, completely stripped and mocked and spat on.

At that point, if somebody comes and asks you if your Father really loves you, what will be your reaction?

Pause and think.

I’m sure there won’t be even a moment of doubt in your head because you have seen what has happened. And I’m sure that at this point, you will doubt the entire world, but you will not doubt your Father because now His love is tested, and you are fully convinced that He is for you and that His love will never fail.

Right?

Daughter, hasn’t your God done exactly the same for you? The Bible says, in Romans 8:31-32 (NKJV), “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

Then why do you doubt when you face problems in your life? Why do you waver? Why do you still question this good, good Father who stripped Himself completely for you?

Let this one thing be tested and proved in your life, that He loves you and that He is for you!

Let this become your declaration whenever a problem comes- “But I have tested Him, and He is on my team.”

So next time when somebody says, “Hey, look at you! You are not even married; everyone else is married“, stand up and say, “But, I have tested Him, and He is on my team.”

When somebody says, “Look at you, you don’t even have a job; look at your friends, they’ve all gone abroad to study, and nothing is happening in your life.”

What is going to be your response? “But I have tested Him, and He is on my team.”

When somebody says, “Look at you, how weak you are, you are struggling”, get up and shout, “But, I have tested Him, and He is on my team.”

Tomorrow when problems come your way, I want you to remember this line and remember your Father. If He did not spare His only Son for you, what makes you think you’re less loved? What makes you think that you are a nobody? What makes you feel that your life is without purpose?

From this day on, every time a situation comes to mock you, every time that addiction comes and tells you there is no hope for you, will you remember this line?

“But I have tested Him, and I know, and I know, and I know that He is on my side!!”

How To Raise Your Self Worth – Easy & Practical Way

How To Raise Your Self Worth – Easy & Practical Way

A couple of days ago, as I was seeking God in prayer for direction, I began to thank Him for His faithfulness to me. As I recounted my blessings and how far He has brought me, my heart was overwhelmed and I couldn’t help but fall down on my face, in awe of His goodness.

Thankfulness – this is one area I really want to grow more and more in.

Recently my spiritual father Prophet Shyju Mathew made a profound statement.

He said: Lack of gratitude distorts your identity

That’s so powerful!

Self Worth

Indeed, a grateful heart is the sign of a rooted Christian.

I believe, the most simple way we can establish our self worth or identity in Christ, is by learning to be grateful to God.

You see, a healthy self worth comes from understanding the truth about ourselves. And, because we are made in the image and likeness of Him, the more we know God and are thankful to Him, the more we will know ourselves and be secure in who He created us to be.

Be intentional in our thanksgiving

Yes, you can pray about healing the sick, speaking in tongues, raising the dead, but before that you need to believe in who you are! And a good way to do that is by being intentional in giving thanks to God. This is especially needed for our generation that is more often than not complaining, grumbling or comparing themselves to others. Ouch!

Listen dear daughters of God, the more you know God, the more you will be thankful. That’s when the devil will not be able to trap you into insecurity, worry, jealousy or offence whether at your workplace, house or church. You will not be offended when your boss does not appreciate you or when your pastor does not make you a part of the worship team. A thankful person is one who knows who she is because she is secure in the love of God.

May you grow in your identity this year, more than ever before!
