A messed up pencil box and a powerful reminder!

A messed up pencil box and a powerful reminder!

Recently we gifted our five year old a new pencil box. My husband knew my son’s exact choice so he searched hard till he found one – A car shaped, double decker, shiny metal box with his favorite colors.

My son was so happy to receive this surprise gift and show it off to his school friends. He wanted to even sleep with it, he thanked us and was so overjoyed with the gesture.

goodbyelies

When the secret was let out

Following week while me and my son were enjoying our evening play time, my mother-in-law came to the room and said she had a complaint about him. The moment my son heard her, the joy on his face was now replaced with fear.

My little boy got to the point of tears, jumped off his chair and started to close my ears and eyes pleading with me to not listen to her.

The moment I saw what had happened to him, I held him close, looked in those teary eyes and reassured him of my love, no matter what he had done.

Finally he gathered courage and told me in an attempt to decorate his new pencil box he colored it and spoiled it. He then tried to rectify his mistake by washing and scrubbing it, but all in vain. When he realized he had messed it, he was very scared. My mother-in-law threatened him if he didn’t listen to her, she would let out the secret which would make me very mad at him. And in fear, he hid the pencil box.

My son was weeping as he asked for forgiveness from me and I in turn hugged him and assured him that I am not upset at all, and all he had to do was to come to mummy just as he is, instead of hiding what had happened.

I then showed him a magic potion I had (nail paint remover) that could remove all stains, and as I wiped the pencil box, it became just as new!

Run to Jesus

My son was so happy, he ran out of the room with the box in his hand as a trophy, showing it off to his grandmother. The same box that had been the reason for him to be condemned was now a reason to celebrate.. Oh he was free, he was dancing to glory, teasing his grandma and enjoying the astonished look on her face!

As I watched my son dancing and rejoicing, I was reminded that this was exactly what God did for you and me. He washed us by His blood. The sin stains were so dark that no blood of bulls and rams could wash us clean. But what we couldn’t accomplish Jesus did it for us, by washing us with His precious blood (Romans 3:25).

Dear sister, as you read this, no matter how badly you feel you have fallen, run into the father’s arms. When you and I fail or fall in the trap of sin, the accuser is watching and condemning us, convincing us to his filthy lies – lies that I would never be accepted, I have lost my sonship, I would not receive any more blessings, God doesn’t love me and is upset with me etc. Don’t allow fear to paralyse you, instead run to His Word. Because every time I run to His Word (Him), His blood washes me clean, whiter than snow leaving no traces of sin or condemnation.

Thank you Jesus!

Ruta Miller

Hate Waiting? Here’s What You Need To Know…

Hate Waiting? Here’s What You Need To Know…

How has your 2022 been? What are you looking forward to in the new year 2023?

Every year there were some declarations I had made and would trust God to make it happen that year. But every time I asked God for it to happen that year, I would hear God say “Prepare “. And I would respond “But Lord you said that last year too and last to last year also”. And for three years I waited and I had to prepare and I realized later why!

It’s because He is the God of Suddenly. When God blesses you and promotes you or gives you something, it will happen suddenly and you need that grace to keep that blessing otherwise you will ruin it yourself. He needs you to get the old you and your old experience out so you can embrace the new and learn what God has in store for you.

waiting

Wait and Prepare

The disciples had to wait 10 days to receive the strength and power of the Holy Spirit. Why did the Lord want them to pray and wait?!

David was a shepherd boy and with the sheep he had, God was preparing him to be a king to rule Israel.

Prophet Samuel served God in the temple, with what he heard and obeyed the priest, God was preparing Him to hear Him and obey God Himself and become one of the greatest prophets.

Waiting time can be exhausting until you realise that God is been preparing you for a launch.

God will prepare you with the Small You do

If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities (Luke 16:10)

Questions to ask yourself are in what areas I must be faithful so God can hold me accountable for more. In what areas I must work on, or teach myself so I can be prepared?

What are the weaknesses that I must overcome to be ready?

When The Promise Takes Time

Sometimes we think only if we are prepared and perfect then only God will do what He promised us. That is not true. Because God is a Good God and He sends rain to the evil and the good (Mat 5:45). The choice is either to be ready and prepared for it before or learn through hard knocks after the blessing has been given.

If the promise takes time remember even if you are not 100% ready or 100% perfect but God is faithful to do what He Promised. And guess what even though you weren’t ready for it and when your promise has taken place, He will teach you through the process only if you let Him. It may not be perfect and it may take time too but trust God to direct your ways.

Dear sister , no one likes to wait, but remember when God has opened the door no one can shut it. (Rev 3:7). Also, you are not alone in your preparation. The Bible says, “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 (NIV)

My biggest lesson from 2022

My biggest lesson from 2022

Like most of you, every year I purchase a beautiful dairy and use the first page to set goals for myself. As I enter 2023, I like to go back to the 2022 dairy, spending time, reflecting on the previous year, and preparing my heart and mind for the next. As I contemplate, the most important lesson I learnt which I believe should be the foundation for our lives is: God wants us to not only survive, but thrive under him.

Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. (Proverbs 11:28)

So yes, celebrate Jesus… for you thrived in 2022

Lesson 2022

Here are a few lessons that built and strengthened me in 2022:

In the year 2022, I released God was focused on fixing my heart. I remember in the month of March, I started to see the enemies plan unfold in my life; but God had already given me a word in January to prepare me.“Guard your heart, be faithful Sheryl

I learnt to guard my heart by guarding my eyes, mouth and ears. Holy Spirit reminded me to be intentional of what I spoke, saw or heard. Here are 3 keys to guard your heart:

1) Guard your eyes:

Keep away from watching anything that will erupt an emotion that you are struggling with. I had watched myself and identified that romantic and thriller movies had the tendency to go deep in my heart and spring up emotions that I could not handle. Romantic movies would made me expect a similar married life like in the movies, and when that did not happen, I would get disappointed. And thriller movies would make me imagine unseen things in the dark… you know what I mean.

So I quickly cut off from them… If I felt like watching a movie I would watch good Biblical movies.

2) Guard your ears:

I have always been influenced with music, I believe many of us are because God has put worship and music in our hearts. So I made it a point to listen to uplifting worship music or listen to amazing Christian podcasts and books that are available for free.

3) Guard your mouth:

I learnt from my spiritual parents “If you have nothing good to say, don’t say anything”. I reminded my self often, I don’t have to share my opinion about everything and that I will only speak to uplift. My colleague recently introduced me to a GenZ lingo “FOMO” (fear of missing out); that is when the Holy Spirit spoke to me that ‘FOMO” is the biggest battle we all face.

Hey, it’s ok if you miss out on the joke or the latest topic in your office; but don’t miss out on the voice of God.

As I was intentional in guarding my heart, God was rewarding me with His presence by speaking to me through the Bible or a song and many times through the man and woman of God placed over me.Believe me, as the year has ended, I can look back and say, “I have been guarded from making many mistakes”. God has been my refuge and my I have been protected under is almighty wings.

He will never leave you nor forsake you

Girls, as a person I am very private, I don’t share anything about my personal life. However, today here I am peeling that layer of me to glorify the work of God in my life. When I would meet women that did not fall into relationships or habits in there teenage years, in my heart, I always blamed God for not protecting me from falling in wrong relationships or habits.

I would cry out to God so many times, “Why did you forsake me when I was in my teens, why did you never protect me”. I had to go through so many heart breaks and get over over so many addictions when I received Christ, my walk with Him was very different from the other Christian good girls in the church.

Truly truly , I tell you Our God never leaves us, I am a living proof. Even when I made the wrong choices He was with me. He watched over me and at the appointed time sent people in my life to reveal His never-ending love for me. Deuteronomy 31:8 T_he LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you._

Now by Guarding my heart, I continue to stay under the protection that God offers and not just survive but thrive daily.

Girls, so what was your biggest lesson from 2022?
