A Rat, and a Reminder from God

A Rat, and a Reminder from God

One day as I was doing my daily runs in the park, a rat ran across me. It was as big as the size of my feet!

Normally I would have run away in the opposite direction, but the Lord began to reveal something to me. I happened to see that a ray of light falling on the rat was causing a big shadow on the wall behind it. Now the shadow of the rat was so big, almost like the size
of an elephant!

Shadows

That’s when I heard the Lord say, “This is how the devil works. He is actually the size of a rat, but magnifies your problem or himself as the big shadow you see on the wall. What you see is just a shadow, your actual problem is the size of the rat!”

When our problems become a shadow…

Whatever problem you may be facing – maybe in your school, college, job, marriage, family, that problem may seem to be standing like a giant in your way right now. But when we realise that we are seated in the Lord Jesus at the right hand of the Father, our
perspective changes (Ephesians 2:6). Now the same problem will look small compared to the size of God in us.

Whatever you think is great obstacle or a problem or glittery are just shadows. As David would say, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).

Here’s the key…

We got to pursue Jesus long enough till everything else becomes a shadow.

Many people pursue God for blessings. But imagine you are in a relationship and someone pursues you for what you can only give, but not for who you are.

Yikes!

Having Lord Jesus in your life is like having everything! He is all you need! He is your God, your Father, your King, your best Friend, your Savior, your Protector, your shield, your provider, your healer… and I can go on!

May our eyes be opened

Listen girls, people, pastors or leaders cannot pursue God for you. This is where you need to get up and hear God for yourself, open the Bible and know Him more personally.

This is your life’s homework!

You need to see God for who He is really. See Him with eyes not limited to a man, but with eyes that can be only opened by the Holy Spirit. He is the Great I Am. He is the One who went before you and suffered on the cross and is now seated at God’s right hand having all power and authority.

And guess what, He has given that authority to you, His precious daughter!

I am praying for you that your eyes will be so fixed on Jesus that everything else will become a shadow in the light of Him. I am praying that God will give you solutions and promises in His Word for your problem today as you open your Bible. I pray a mighty blessing on you girl! You are born to soar!

XOXO

Are You Bitter? It’s Time To Let Go

Are You Bitter? It’s Time To Let Go

“And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” *Mark 11:25*

LET GO- this is one of the most liberating things you can hear today, especially if you have been bitter in your heart and have been holding onto unforgiveness for a long time. Bitterness keeps you bound, robs you of joy and hinders you from living a fulfilled life. Whereas forgiveness liberates you, brings happiness and helps you live an abundant life.

Now you might be deeply hurt by someone and asking, “Why should I forgive this person?” I get it. I have asked the same question myself a few times in the past.

Here are few reasons why you must forgive and let go of that bitterness:

#LetGo#Nomorebebitter#Forgiveasyougo#Besetfree

The cost of holding onto that bitterness is greater

Many times there is a false sense of achievement in bitterness. You can be deceived into thinking that you are gaining something by holding onto a grudge. The truth is the longer you hold onto unforgiveness, knowingly or unknowingly, it is you who suffer, not the one you are bitter towards.

“..that no ‘root of bitterness’ springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled.” Hebrews 12:5

It is a hindrance in your journey with the Lord

When I fully surrendered my life to the Lord, I was not an overnight transformed person. But as I started living this surrendered life, one of the areas God exposed in me was an unforgiving heart. I held onto past hurts.

Through many occasions (sometimes through a man or woman of God, sometimes through a blog post like this), God made it clear that He wanted me to let go of that bitterness. He wanted me to forgive and let go so that He can carry me forward in this beautiful journey with Him. But that unforgiveness simply cannot tag along.

“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” *Ephesians 4:31-32*

Because you have been forgiven much

The more I understood how much I am forgiven, the easier it was for me to forgive and forgive quickly. If God were to hold our sins against us, even the nicest ones among us wouldn’t stand a chance of entering eternal life. Romans 5:8 says, “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” That’s how deeply forgiven we are. So, what are we holding onto?

It’s your pathway to freedom

When I finally let go of certain bitterness and unforgiveness that I held onto for a long time, it brought about inner healing and restoration in my life. I began to smile more often. Joy radiated from within me. I felt free. And, believe it or not, I was even set free from unusual aches and pain in my body. Unforgiveness is a sure stronghold, while forgiveness is meant to liberate you.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22

As you are reading this, is God reminding you of someone you haven’t forgiven yet? Or the memory of a hurtful moment that you have well stored in the back of your mind? I encourage you, forgive and let go. It’s your first huge step to living a life of freedom in Christ.

Are you hosting sparrows or pigeons?

Are you hosting sparrows or pigeons?

Living in Mumbai (India), the only birds visiting my house frequently are pigeons. Honestly, I am not a fan of pigeons, as their “cooing” sound is very unpleasant and they tend to leave behind a lot of foul-smelling mess.

My family has a habit of shooing pigeons away, every time we see them at our window. This got us chatting about the time when we were kids and sparrows would come around chirping happily. That is when we decided to host sparrows at our windows, and notify the pigeons they were not welcome here.

Through many years, we tried many things, like keeping a bowl of water or some food; but nothing really worked. The pigeons would always come back.

#sparrows

This did the trick!

Finally, we decided to buy a bird feeder; we were told that the pigeons stay away from this feeder as they do not like the green color on it.

The first day my husband placed the feeder on our balcony floor. When we got back home in the evening excited to see any evidence of sparrows, we unfortunately found only pigeon droppings all over the place.

We then decided to place it at a certain height, hanging the feeder by a single rope, and waited at the window to see if we were still hosting only pigeons. This did the trick, in no time we had sparrows visiting us and chirping away happily.

While all this was taking place in the natural, here are two things I learnt about hosting the right presence in our daily life.

1) Check who you are hosting

Who are we hosting in our homes, colleges and office? The conversations we are a part of, the movies we watch, the books we read, the music we listen to will attract either God or the enemy. The Bible says in Malachi 3:16 Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honoured his name.

Every time we pray or talk about the goodness of God, He is listening, and His presence gets attracted to us.

2) Hosting the presence of God is a privilege

There is no greater privilege than being a host to God. He is looking for people who will host His presence, hence we need to be in the right postures and position for hosting Him.
The position of the bird feeder was the key to hosting the sparrows. Every time the pigeon landed on the bird feeder that was now elevated in the air, it’s weight would shake the feeder and it would lose its balance. But the little sparrows sat comfortably on the feeder.

When you pray, are you in the midst of all distractions like your phone, Ipad etc? Or have you lifted your mind to be at a height where distractions have no hold on you and the enemy loses his balance?

Mathew 14:23, Jesus went up the mountain to pray, And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone…

As Christians hosting God’s presence should be part of our everyday life. So, let’s make amends to our posture and position and learn to be a good host.

5 Guaranteed Ways to Make Everyone Like You!

5 Guaranteed Ways to Make Everyone Like You!

1. Don’t have dreams or set goals

Dreaming is very risky as you will inspire many people to disagree with what you desire. Also, don’t do anything important. Stay out of situations that need solutions!

2. Stay with the crowd

Dress like them, talk like them and for goodness sakes don’t have any moral convictions. Having strong moral values is a sure way to be hated by every virtue-less person. Also, don’t stand up for anything or anyone. Forget being loyal, just agree with whoever you are with.

5 Guaranteed Ways to Make Everyone Like You!

3. Don’t set boundaries with people

Never tell anyone “NO” or confront anyone. Be a doormat…Let people walk on you, cheat on you and abuse you. Oh, then call it “loving like Jesus” so you can feel good about feeling bad.

4. Don’t think well of yourself

Remind people how incapable, weak, dumb and ugly you are. That will cause some to think you are arrogant or prideful. Also, don’t own nice things as you will cause others to be jealous of you. Whenever you look more blessed than others, they will have to question your motives or your means.

5. Following Jesus?

Following Jesus is another way to loose great friends! People will feel guilty around you because you don’t do the things they do. They will think you are trying to be spiritual. Having convictions will cause others to feel condemned.
